Tony Bellew reveals what it would take to get him back in the ring and has an update on Tyson Fury fight

Tony Bellew has promised to make a decision on his fighting career ‘in the next fortnight’, but stressed his decision will be influenced by money.

The Liverpool-born fighter is finally reaching the peak of his powers after years of grafting.

After a sensational knockout performance against David Haye in May, the mad Evertonian publicly called out Tyson Fury.

However, no headway has been made between the negotiating parties and a deal looks unlikely to happen.

With a colossal Cruiserweight battle happening this weekend between Oleksandr Usky and Murast Gassiev, speculation has been rife the 34-year-old could fight the winner to unify the division.

However, he is not willing to step into the ring if the money is not right.

“It has to be a fight where everybody writes me off again,” he revealed on talkSPORT Drivetime.

“It has to be a fight where it appeals to the general public.

“I just don’t see the point in fighting somebody, and listen the winner of the WBSS (World Boxing Super Series) it all comes down to the simple thing of, if it makes financial sense, then I want to do it.

“But ultimately, there is no point in me saying I want the winner of the WBSS or I’m going to fight Tyson Fury, when one pays five times more than the other.

“Let’s just be realistic and I’m being as honest as I possibly can.

“I would love the winner of the WBSS.

“But if it pays one fifth of what it does to fight someone else, then it’s not realistically going to happen.”

With Fury slowly but surely continuing his comeback trail, there was a genuine belief Bellew could be offered to the former World heavyweight champion as a tune-up fight.

After fighting both of his last two bouts at heavyweight, the ‘Bomber’ has shown he is comfortable carrying the extra weight.

However, with no breakthrough in communications, Bellew admitted even he was confused as to what his next move would be.

But he promised he would keep fans updated as soon as possible.

He added: “I don’t know what I’m going to do, I mean I’m going to get away for a little bit, alone time just away with the family for a bit.

“And I’m going to make a decision in the next fortnight, definitely.

“I mean hopefully I will have made a decision by the end of this month, early next month at the latest.

“I’m going to sit with Eddie (Hearn) and a couple of my guys and just go over the options.

“I know everybody wants to see me fight this one, that one and he big one everyone wants to see me fight is Tyson Fury.

“But the fact of the matter is, he doesn’t want to know.”
