Lennox Lewis could come out of retirement, ‘eat a few snickers’ and knockout Anthony Joshua, warns ex-undisputed heavyweight champion’s manager

Lennox Lewis could come out of retirement, ‘eat a few Snickers’ and knockout Anthony Joshua, warned the boxing legend’s manager Josh Dubin.

The pair have engaged in an extraordinary war of words after Lewis claimed AJ was not ‘fully prepared’ before his shock loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.

Lewis and AJ have engaged in an extraordinary war of words

Their feud has been bubbling under the surface for several months, but Joshua kick-started the war of words by telling Sky Sports: “Lennox is a clown. I don’t respect Lennox.

“Me and Lennox are not the same. My legacy is to sit back and enjoy the younger generation coming up, and not to be involved.

“Just to appreciate what it takes to get there. Lennox isn’t like that. Me and Lennox are cut from a different cloth.”

Lewis replied by tweeting: “Wow! He’s right! We ARE cut from a different cloth.

“Undisputed wasn’t something I ‘worried’ about. It was something I went after until it was accomplished.

“Disappointed in AJ’s words but I understand that this ‘jealousy’ narrative was only fabricated AFTER I criticised them for Wilder negotiations. All of the sudden I’m a hater.”

And now Lewis’ manager Dubin has coughed up his six pence to add fuel to the fire in the ongoing feud between the pair.

Speaking to Boxing Scene, he said: “If he [Joshua] keeps it up, Lennox just may eat a few Snickers bars, come out of retirement, and beat AJ up to humble him.

“If Anthony Joshua was actually paying attention to his peers in the ‘younger generation,’ he would know that Lennox has been a mentor and friend to countless young fighters.

“From Andre Ward to Shakur Stevenson, to Bryant Jennings, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, the list goes on and on. He has always been there as a sounding board and supporter for these guys and so many more.

“And if Joshua would pay attention to the business at hand instead of Lennox, he would know that Lennox has a non-profit boxing camp for underprivileged young fighters that he hosts throughout the year in Jamaica and Canada called the League of Champions. So there’s one thing he’s right about – Lennox is cut from a different cloth – silk.

“Lennox’s role as a broadcaster requires him to provide commentary about different fighters.

“Despite the fact that both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have received construction criticism from Lennox, they remain friends and supporters and appreciate the feedback.

“And even if Lennox wasn’t a commentator, legends have the right to comment on younger generation. So Anthony must be cut from tissue paper if he can’t take a little feedback from the last undisputed!”

Despite Dubin’s remarks, Lewis has made an offer to Joshua to clear the air on social media.

Lewis tweeted: “AJ has my number if he ever wants to clarify what is being said in the media or show me where I’m wrong about something. My doors remain open to him, but just know that disrespect is not answer to his frustrations. Gotta go catch a flight now. Bless!”

He prefaced his offering of an olive branch with: “He is the first AJ, not the next Lennox Lewis. Like I said, I won’t fall into that trap and be pitted against him. He has a watershed moment in his career coming up and all this only serves as a distraction by the media. Notice how they only led with his comments about me?”
