Dillian Whyte vs Anthony Joshua rematch: Eddie Hearn reveals ‘Body Snatcher’ offered more than £4million for fight

IS IT ENOUGH?

A battle of British heavyweights is being targeted for April 13 at Wembley and there’s a lot of money on the table

Anthony Joshua has made Dillian Whyte an offer of more than £4million for a rematch at Wembley, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

The fight-maker, who represents both men, responded to questions on social media on Tuesday night, with Whyte previously branding AJ’s initial proposal ridiculous before weighing up his options with rival promoters.

It’s understood that Joshua has now returned to his old rival with an improved deal to share the ring on 13 April, however the ‘Body Snatcher’ has declared his free agent status and last week flew to the US for talks with Al Haymon’s PBC.

In response to a tweet stating Whyte should accept any offer over £2m, Hearn replied on Twitter: “Double it.”

He later added, “It’s more then Povetkin,” and then confirmed the financial package amounts to over £4m.

Despite being the biggest star in the heavyweight division, Joshua’s search for an opponent is becoming slightly desperate.

His top two choices – Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury – are seemingly headed for a second fight with one another.

Whyte is third on AJ’s list and it’s said if that bout doesn’t come to fruition, then the unified champion is likely head to New York for a US debut against Jarrell Miller.

When they met as novice amateurs in 2009, Whyte knocked Joshua down and beat him by decision.

Six years later as professionals, the Finchley man got revenge by KOing his rival to win the British title.
