Dillian Whyte set to make comeback on Ruiz vs Joshua rematch as Eddie Hearn suggests ‘The Bodysnatcher’ will return in Saudi Arabia

Dillian Whyte is set to return to action on Anthony Joshua’s undercard in Saudi Arabia on December 7.

The ‘Bodysnatcher’ has not fought since July when he recorded a unanimous points victory over Oscar Rivas at the 02 Arena to cement his position as the mandatory challenger to WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

But the Brixton-native was stripped of his mandatory status and interim belt after a reported failed drugs test. Tyson Fury has since replaced him as mandatory challenger to the ‘Bronze Bomber’.

Matchrrom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn has confirmed the 31-year-old will now make his eagerly-awaited return to the ring in the Middle East as a replacement for the Jono Carroll-Scott Quigg fight, after the latter withdrew with an elbow injury.

Speaking at KSI’s win over Logan Paul, Hearn was grilled over what happened to Carroll’s failed clash with Quigg.

And the Matchroom Boxing promoter replied: “Scott Quigg had a recurrence of his elbow injury. So we’re going to move that fight to January or February.”

When asked who would replace them on the undercard, Hearn claimed: “Possibly Dillian Whyte.”

Hearn is then asked, “Dillian Whyte in Saudi?”, to which he gives a knowing nod and smile, much to the shock of the nearby crowd.

Quizzed over who Whyte’s opponent could be, Hearn replied: “Not sure yet. It’s not going to be a top five-ten guy.

“But it will be a good fight. We’re working it out.”
