The British pair have a mutual hatred dating back to their fight in 2014 and Saunders issued a response to Eubank Jr’s taunts less than two hours later
Chris Eubank Jr has mocked Billy Joe Saunders after the now-former WBO middleweight champion vacated his world title.
Following his magnificent win over David Lemieux last December, Saunders has jumped from controversy to controversy, with the latest ultimately costing him his belt.
The Brit tested positive for Oxilofrine in a VADA drugs test last month and was subsequently denied a licence by the Massachusetts Commission for his scheduled bout against Demetrius Andrade on October 20.
He claimed to have used a nasal spray containing the substance.
His promoter Frank Warren has since declared that they plan to legally challenge the commission and that Saunders won’t box until his name is cleared, so they have therefore vacated his WBO middleweight title.
However, Chris Eubank Jr sees things differently, and has ripped into his rival on social media.
The 29-year-old said: “So Billy Joe Saunders, how long [have] you been taking illegal substances for son?
“It’s funny how you were giving it to Canelo while you were cheating with drugs yourself.
“Enjoy your time out and don’t worry, the belt you’ve been stripped of will be in more deserving hands soon enough. Justice.”
Saunders’ vacated world title will now be fought for by Demetrius Andrade and Walter Kautondokwa on October 20, while Chris Eubank Jr looks set for a December showdown with James DeGale.
However, Saunders responded to Eubank’s tweet less than two hours later.
He tweeted: “You will never win a world title belt you’re British level tops.
Steps up gets banged every time you bum. Go play with your dads k***.”
