Frank Warren EXCLUSIVE: Promoter hits back at Eddie Hearn over Daniel Dubois promotion criticism

Frank Warren claims Eddie Hearn is ‘scrambling around’ after his ‘jewel in the crown got beat,’ hence why he has criticised the promotion of Daniel Dubois.

Hearn claimed there were low ticket sales at the O2 Arena for the British heavyweight champion’s fight last weekend and also stated that he believes the 21-year-old has received low exposure to the wider public.

Warren responded to this by telling talkSPORT.com’s Alex McCarthy: “When we signed him no-one knew who he was, hardly anybody.

“He’d only had seven senior bouts as an amateur and I really fancied him, he’s done brilliantly.

“Someone told me Hearn done an interview yesterday and they told me Hearn said he’s not being promoted properly.

“He didn’t win a gold medal at the Olympics, he didn’t fight in World Amateur Championships as a senior, he didn’t do any of that stuff, I don’t think we’ve done a bad job.

“On YouTube, the fight on Saturday, a million people have watched it. His fight before, 1.7milllion.

“Buatsi, who fought in the Olympics and done everything, is with Hearn – 88,000 people watched it [his fight with Liam Conroy on YouTube].“

Dubois knocked out Nathan Gorman in five rounds to claim the vacant British heavyweight belt on Saturday, moving to 12-0 (11 KOs) in the process.

He will now look to move on to bigger and better things as he pursues a future at world level.

When asked if he believes Hearn’s criticisms came out of jealousy, Warren replied: “Of course. It’s the red eye, isn’t it? He’s been left at the altar, I get that.

“The old jewel in the crown (Anthony Joshua) got beat and now he’s scrambling around.

“I don’t know why he worries about what we’re doing. I don’t worry about what he does.

“If I was him, all I’d be worrying about at the moment is what do I tell DAZN about the crap subscriptions he’s getting for the fights he’s putting on.”
